We got up yesterday morning, and went downstairs to the PA hotel's breakfast buffet. After getting some scrambled eggs and DIY waffles with mini chocolate chips, Strider declared this the "best hotel and breakfast ever!". LOL. If they had also offered bacon, he would have been in nirvana.
We made good time going up the west side of NY. Thankfully, all the significant traffic jams we've seen on the trip so far have been on the other side of the highway. It was a 6-hour drive to Malone. The weather was outstanding and the higher north we went, the humidity felt less and less. Considering how thick the air is in NC this time of year, it felt very welcome!!
When you drive on Route 11 through Gouveneur, Canton, Potsdam, etc.... it is very picturesque. They're all these cute, historical small college towns that have gorgeous architectural buildings. I could have easily spent time just walking around, taking pictures and browsing the local shops!

We had a destination to get to though, and the kids were excited once again to arrive at another hotel (in Malone). This was even "fancier" then the last one! It was just a much newer hotel, but the kids were buzzing with excitement. We checked in, looked at the pool, and dropped some stuff off at the room. You know you're a mom, when you get excited that the hotel comes with a coin laundry. Yeah baby! I can wash clothes! LOL.

We headed over to Brad's mom's house (Angie), and we were delightfully surprised to see Brad's Aunt Norma there. It was Norma's first time meeting the kids. Strider saw his Grandma Angie, and he said "you look familiar". LOL. No matter how many times I show them photos or tell them stories, my kids seem to take after me in that they are terrible with names and faces. [**sigh**] It never takes them long though to get back in the swing of things when they are around family they don't see often.

We hung out and chatted for a bit, and then Mom (Angie) hopped in the car with us to go to
Jrecks Subs to pick up supper. Brad was now in his happy food place, as he really misses the subs from there. I have to admit, I don't know why they are so good, but they really are. We went back to mom's house to eat, and the kids got to show Grandma Angie and Aunt Norma their toys and Snapchat filters. We finally realized it was 8:00pm, and it was time to go back to the hotel and get the kids to bed.
Tomorrow (Day 3) will be our first full day with the family!
